Message: Come Home!

This Sunday is Homecoming Sunday, our annual fall kick off. We’ve sent letters out to members and friends of St. Luke’s scattered across the city and nation asking for people’s prayers and presence in worship.

It’s also Holy Cross Day – so expect to hear tunes and texts that are both familiar and challenging. The cross is a sign to Christians that God makes God’s home in places of suffering and injustice. When we say that we are a part of the body of Christ, we are recognizing that God calls us to make ourselves at home in the world’s hurting places as well.

Among other things, let’s hear in this conjunction of Homecoming and Holy Cross an invitation to bring our whole selves – the joys and the pains, the successes and the failures – to worship. Home is not a place you have to be perfect, it is a place where you can be yourself. This weekend, come home to St. Luke’s.

In Christ,

Pastor Erik
